Zlatan Ibrahimovic is no stranger to stirring up some controversy and he was back at it again on Thursday as he claimed Mohamed Salah didn't deserve to win the Puskas Award.
Liverpool forward Salah took home the award for best goal of the year at FIFA's The Best awards on Monday night for his solo effort against Everton.
But Ibrahimovic has revealed he didn't think it was a worthy winner, and jokingly suggested his wonder strike against Los Angeles FC earlier this year could have won.
When asked whether he thought Salah deserved to win, Ibrahimovic told said: 'No.'
He was then asked who he thought deserved to win and said: 'I think Cristiano scored a nice goal. I didn't see the candidates, because if my goal was not there, it was not interesting.
'But my goal should have been there, against LAFC, or you have my 500 goals, but let's see. Maybe I'm there next year,' he added.
The grin across his face at the end of his answer suggested it was all in jest. But Ibrahimovic is renowned for his ego and perhaps there was an underlying seriousness to it as well.
Salah took home the award earlier this week for his strike against Everton in the Merseyside derby last season.
The forward turned Martina inside out before cutting inside Idrissa Gueye to fire the ball around Jordan Pickford.
The effort beat overhead strikes from Real Madrid duo Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale in the Champions League to win.
