The flag at Liverpool Town Hall has been lowered to half-mast as a mark of respect, following the death of Liverpool FC forward Diogo Jota.

Lord Mayor of Liverpool, Councillor Barbara Murray, said: “On behalf of the people of Liverpool, I want to send my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Diogo Jota and his brother, Andre Silva.

“Our thoughts and prayers are also with everyone at Liverpool FC at this extremely sad time.”
