Inter 2-1 Sampdoria: Lukaku & Lautaro help Conte's men cut gap on Juve to 6 pts

  /  R47

Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez both scored as Inter claimed a 2-1 win over Sampdoria in Serie A.

Match Reports

Lautaro Martinez ended his mini goal drought as Inter moved six points behind Serie A leaders Juventus with a 2-1 win over Sampdoria at San Siro.

First-half goals from Romelu Lukaku and Martinez saw Antonio Conte's side bounce back in style from their Coppa Italia semi-final aggregate defeat to Napoli.

Lukaku netted after just 10 minutes following a one-two with Christian Eriksen, while Martinez - a rumoured target for Barcelona - swept home 12 minutes before half-time to register his first goal since January.

2' Candreva Offside, Eriksen's goal disallowed

Inter start the game on the front foot. Barella tries a throughball down the right for Candreva but the wing-back is caught offside. It's a shame for Inter, as Eriksen had put the ball in the net from Candreva's cross.

10' GOAL! Inter 1-0 Sampdoria (Lukaku)

Lukaku opens the scoring for Inter! It's a lovely goal too, as Inter cut through Sampdoria through a flurry of passes which ends in the Belgian slotting home from the centre of the box. He takes a knee to acknowledge the Black Lives Matter movement.

22' Yellow Card! Bertolacci booked

Bertolacci gets the game's first yellow card for leaving a high boot on Barella in a 50/50 challenge. No complaints.

33' GOAL! Inter 2-0 Sampdoria (Lautaro)

Martinez makes it two and this game already seems over for Sampdoria. Lukaku teases Jankto at the right of the box and waits for Candreva to arrive. Candreva receives Lukaku's pass inside and crosses first-time for Martinez, who has an easy finish.

48' Yellow Card! Lautaro booked

To illustrate the point, Martinez is booked for fouling Bertolacci in Inter's half. That's better from the visitors.

52' GOAL! Inter 2-1 Sampdoria (Thorsby)

Sampdoria are back in this! Sampdoria take the corner short and find Colley who is entirely unmarked at the far post. The Gambian's thumping header rebounds off the crossbar and Thorsby sticks out a leg to poke it into the net!
