Inter Miami have announced they will name a stand at their new stadium after club captain Lionel Messi.

Miami are due to play their first game at the 26,700-capacity Nu Stadium on April 4, against Austin FC.
The MLS Cup champions have played their first five games of the season on the road, having used Chase Stadium in Fort Lauderdale as a temporary home since their inaugural campaign in 2020.
And Messi, who is already Miami's all-time leader for both goals and assists, scoring 82 goals and creating 53 since arriving in Florida in 2023, will play in front of a stand bearing his name.

The club said in a statement: "Traditionally, tributes look to the past. They are built from nostalgia. From memory. This one is different.
"This one is born from the present. From what is happening right now. From what you feel every time Leo steps onto the pitch.
"Recognising someone is not always about closing a chapter. Sometimes it is about realising you are witnessing something unique."
Miami have taken 10 points from their first five games in MLS this year to sit third in the Eastern Conference, behind Nashville SC and New York City FC.
