Jurgen Klopp: If Brazil FA want to check Coutinho, no problem

  /  Brava

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is speaking to the media and says Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho remains out through injury ahead of a clash with Arsenal, followed by the international break.

"He's on our injury list - that hasn't changed," said Klopp. "No contact with Brazil FA but if they want to check him that's how it is.

"I don’t know but I think that will happen. That’s no problem."

KLOPP WANTS FANS TO HELP OUT

Liverpool host Arsenal on Sunday and Jurgen Klopp wants a repeat of the stirring atmosphere which helped the Reds to defeat Hoffenheim on Wednesday.

"Arsenal are still an outstanding strong side," said Klopp. "They probably have (Alexis) Sanchez back for the first time, that gives this team another boost. That is an advantage for Arsenal.

"We want to have the same atmosphere as Wednesday night again on Sunday. We need that help.

"I think it was really good, but it can still be better and make it really difficult for all the teams to get anything here."

LIVERPOOL 'WORKING' ON TRANSFERS

Jurgen Klopp says there is a chance Liverpool might add to their squad before the window closes on Thursday but he would be happy with his lot if it closed right now.

"We work on it, as you can imagine," said Klopp. "Until Aug 31 a lot of things are really possible, in and out.

"If and I said it a few times, the transfer window closes tomorrow, I am happy with it.

"I am happy at the moment. Will I be happy on the 31st? I don’t know. Will I be even happier on the 31st?"

KLOPP TIPPING UNITED!

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says it is too soon to make judgements about likely title contenders.

"In this moment it looks like Man Utd will be champions without conceding a goal!" he joked. "It's really early in the season.

"I'm fine with offence and fine with defence. We've got three out of four and we should have won the other. We work with what we have.

"We know where to be, we just have to go there."

KLOPP ON CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DRAW

Liverpool will face Spartak Moscow, Sevilla and Maribor in the Champions League, and Jurgen Klopp says they will need to be wary.

"We watched it (the draw) together after training," said Klopp. "That was already exciting. I didn't understand why the draw was interrupted by (Cristiano) Ronaldo (winning a UEFA award) and all that stuff!

"We remember the (Europa League) final v Sevilla and the quality they have shown in European competitions. Maribor, we don't know anything about.

"The problem with our group is that the less you know about someone, the less respect you (may) show them."

KLOPP ENTHUSES ABOUT LIVERPOOL SQUAD

Even with Coutinho on the sidelines, Jurgen Klopp is thrilled with the options he has in his Liverpool squad.

"Divock Origi wasn't in the squad on Wednesday, that shows how big the quality here is," said Klopp.

"Everyone thought 'Robertson? From Hull?' But he showed up against Palace. Milner in midfield is like a transfer. Moreno is like a new left-back."

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WIJNALDUMS

Good news for Georginio Wijnaldum, whose partner has given birth to their second child, a boy named Jacian.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is delighted and said: "I was waiting for the message to say the baby had arrived! He will be available for Sunday (Wijnaldum, not the baby!).

"I told him when the baby is there, go - because the work starts then!”
