Maksim Samorodov found the net 27 minutes into the first half with a sweetly struck effort from outside the box which buried into the bottom left corner.
Northern Ireland couldn't hit back, seeing their poor run of form continue having managed to win just two of their previous 13 outings across all competitions, including eight defeats.
