In November 3, Bayern Munich beat Atletico Madrid 2-0 away on matchday 4 of the Champions League league phase. In the 54th minute, Tom Bischof's long-range shot caused a scramble in the box. Le Normand was slow to clear the ball, and 18-year-old Lennart Karl stole it from behind before calmly chipping it over Oblak to open the scoring for Bayern.

Earlier in this season's Champions League, Karl had provided an assist in Bayern's 5-0 thrashing of Bodø/Glimt. This goal was his first in the competition this season.
Facing Atletico Madrid's tight defense, it was Karl's decisive interception that broke the deadlock. From winning the ball to finishing, the sequence was seamless, and the Bayern academy product once again showed composure and talent beyond his years. He started the match and was substituted off in the 68th minute.
