With just a few days until the highly anticipated El Clásico between Barcelona and Real Madrid scheduled for Sunday at Spotify Camp Nou, Klopp has also weighed in on Spanish football's most important showdown.

Currently the coach of the German national team and former Liverpool manager, he admitted he never misses a match between these two La Liga giants. In an interview with DAZN, the German coach even showed a slight preference for Barcelona.
He said: "This is a game I love to watch. Now, I only support the strongest team. As things stand, that team is probably Barcelona."
However, this preference is nothing new. Klopp also revealed that in past Clásicos, he long supported the Catalan team, especially during the fiery period of clashes between the two sides.
As for why he preferred Barcelona back then, Klopp didn't shy away from playfully explaining his reasoning. "I used to support Barcelona more because I didn't like seeing Pepe and other defenders constantly clashing aggressively with every player who passed them in that era. That was the only reason I supported Barcelona more at the time," the German said. This remark refers to the heated Clásicos of the 2010s, when the Portuguese defender was known for his aggressive tackles against Catalan players. Today, Klopp says he no longer has such a strong preference, but he still believes Barcelona currently has a slight edge over Real Madrid.
