Jurgen Klopp has included Niclas Fullkrug in his Germany squad for this month's Nations League fixtures at the expense of Nick Woltemade.

Fullkrug has been in impressive form for Werder Bremen this season, scoring nine goals in eight Bundesliga games, leading the German top-flight in goals.

He has also scored 55% of the goals in Bremen's competitive matches this season (12 out of 22), which is the highest share of any player in Europe's top-five leagues.

And among all players with at least 1000 minutes for the German national team this millennium, no one needs as few minutes per goal as Fullkrug (72).

"Good form and scoring goals is never a bad thing. Fulle has performed throughout this time and scored various, almost all spectacular, goals," Klopp told DFB.TV.

"Werder Bremen has an unbelievable influence on the game through him, not just through his goals, but also through the way he performs.

"The experience he brings totally helps. Under that aspect, the nomination was relatively easy. It was a pleasure to make the decision and a pleasure to tell him."

The familiar names of Joshua Kimmich, Florian Wirtz and Kai Havertz are all in the squad, along with youngsters Lennart Karl and Said El Mala.

There was also a first senior call-up for 17-year-old Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Wael Mohya.

Mohya has recorded three direct goal involvements in this Bundesliga season (two goals, one assist). No other under-18 player has notched even a single goal involvement in a European top-five league this season.

Germany won just one of their first four games under Klopp (D2 L1), leaving them third in Nations League Group A2.

They travel to Serbia on November 13 before hosting the Netherlands three days later in their final two group matches.

"I'm really looking forward to the next two matches," said Klopp.

"We have a good mix of very young and more experienced players in the squad.

"After naming a 44-man squad in September, it was difficult to make these selections because – and this is actually the good news – there are more players who deserve to be involved. But that's how it should be.

"The more quality you have at your disposal, the more difficult your decisions become, in a positive sense."
