Ronald Koeman has blamed Barcelona president Joan Laporta for his downfall at Barcelona.
The Dutch manager was sacked in October 2021 by the Catalan side after a poor run of results and was replaced by club icon Xavi a week later.
Xavi was a clear preference for Laporta, who was appointed club president for the second time in March, and Koeman has pinned the blame on the 59-year-old for thwarting his career with the Spanish giants.
He said: 'I think it was worse in Valencia. There were more problems in the dressing room. At Barcelona the dressing room was never a problem, never.
'When you have 24 or 25 players there are always going to be some who aren't happy but, in general, the dressing room wasn't against the coach. We actually worked well together.
'The problem was when the president came. A president or technical director can doubt the coach. The problem is that it came out in the press.'
Laporta was never fully convinced by Koeman and refused to publicly back him, something which evidently frustrates the former Southampton and Everton boss.
Barcelona's most recent trophy actually came under Koeman, when they won the 2020-21 Copa del Rey after thrashing Athletic Club 4-0.
After finishing third with Koeman, Barca came second last campaign, 13 points behind LaLiga champions Real Madrid.
