Kompany: I'm proud of what I achieved at Man City, I don't have time to think about other things

On October 10 13:30 CET, Bayern Munich will face Augsburg away in the fifth round of the Bundesliga. Ahead of the match, Kompany attended the team's press conference. In the first part of the press conference (which we have divided into three parts due to its length), he discussed his expectations for the match and Manchester City being found guilty by the Premier League.

Augsburg coach Baum's son plays for Bayern Munich, and he himself is a Bayern Munich fan. Your previous encounter last season made the match against Augsburg particularly challenging. What are Augsburg's strengths?

For us, this is undoubtedly a very crucial match. We lost one league game last year, and the opponent was Augsburg. So we know this game will not be easy. Even playing away, this is a derby, and a derby inherently carries weight.

I think Augsburg's biggest strength is their compact defensive formation, while also being very threatening when attacking with the ball. Many people who don't know Augsburg don't realize this team has many players with outstanding individual quality. As coaches, we see this very clearly, and we study their matches every week.

Their individual quality might be stronger than the general perception, which makes them a dangerous opponent. They've had a good start to the season. Ultimately, this is a derby, and our fans will be looking forward to this match, as are we.

After the match, you will receive an award from Markus Söder. What is the significance of this honor? The award is not for sporting achievements, but mainly for your stance in the fight against racism.

I think this is an honor inherently related to football. I have said many times: I don't want to receive an award for making an anti-racism speech. That is very clear to me. My stance on this issue comes entirely from my heart.

I don't do this to win awards; rather, in that moment, I felt from the bottom of my heart that I had to do the right thing. This is my attitude towards such matters, so the significance of this goes beyond a purely sporting level. Of course, I am very honored to receive this award.

A major talking point during this international break is the verdict regarding Manchester City. You won many titles during your time at Manchester City, and this matter is somewhat related to you. Are you worried that these titles might one day be revoked? What is your view on this verdict?

No, I am 100% focused on the work I need to do at Bayern Munich. We have many important players in our team, and preparing for matches requires a lot of energy, leaving no room to dwell on such matters. For me, it's very simple: I played there for 11 years.

I am absolutely proud of what we achieved on the pitch and the feelings we shared during those 11 years. Honestly, everything else is quite far removed from my current reality. I am now coaching Bayern Munich, competing in the Bundesliga, and what we need to do is win the upcoming matches.

Musiala has had a tough few months, but yesterday he resumed individual training with the ball. What qualities does he possess that allow him to overcome setbacks and injuries time and time again? His mother mentioned that he has a very strong belief system.

I deeply empathize with experiencing setbacks. I have also gone through many lows in my career. When you find the strength to return to the top level, that strength becomes ingrained in you, and I believe that is precisely Musiala's strength.

I hope that in the coming years, he can once again enjoy football. I believe he certainly can. Once you learn how to recover from difficulties, that ability stays with you for life. Musiala has always demonstrated this: no matter the situation, he knows how to fight his way back.

You've also seen how the whole team and fans cheer for him when he scores. We will witness such moments again. We will do our best to ensure he stays healthy and performs at his best. Since he has done it once, there is no doubt he can do it again and again.
