According to Fabrice Hawkins, Kylian Mbappé (25) was transported to the University Hospital of Düsseldorf to undergo a medical examination after it was reported that he suffered a broken nose during France’s 1-0 victory against Austria earlier this evening.
Hawkins has further added that a decision will be made over whether the forward will have an operation on his nose following the results of tonight’s tests. However, for now, Mbappé and the French national team will have to wait for the full diagnosis.
Until then the nation has already begun to speculate on the impact that this injury will have on the France captain’s involvement at the Euros, with the former France medical chief telling L’Équipe du Soir that he believes it will be a ten-day recovery period at a minimum, and that there is a possibility that the injury “could end [Mbappé’s] participation” in the competition.
