Kylian Mbappé fears knee injury could threaten World Cup

Kylian Mbappé is currently at the center of growing concern in Spain after suffering a knee injury that Real Madrid initially described as a sprain.

The French star missed the recent match against Getafe and will also sit out the upcoming clash with Celta Vigo, leaving uncertainty around his return date.

While some reports suggest he could be back for the first leg of the Champions League round of 16 against Manchester City, others believe he may only return for the second leg on March 17.

According to Spanish media, Mbappé fears the injury could jeopardize his participation in the upcoming World Cup. Reports indicate that his posterior cruciate ligament in the left knee is under significant strain, a situation that has made the forward extremely cautious.

Determined not to risk a more serious setback, the Real Madrid striker reportedly wants to control the timing of his return and could travel with the French national team later this month without necessarily playing in the matches against Brazil and Colombia.
