LA Galaxy possible lineup against New York Red Bulls in MLS Cup Final

Everything is set for the final between LA Galaxy and New York Red Bulls, with Greg Vanney set to field his best side.

Major League Soccer is on the verge of crowning a new champion (Dec 7, 4:00 p.m. ET / 1:00 p.m. PT.). After a surprising playoff run in which the favourites from each conference were eliminated, the LA Galaxy—who enjoyed a strong regular season despite finishing below their main rival, LAFC—now have the chance to compete for a sixth title in their storied history.

If the Galácticos are known for anything, it’s their commitment to signing high-profile players with proven experience and global recognition. Icons such as David Beckham, Zlatan Ibrahimović, and Steven Gerrard have all donned the Galaxy jersey. This season, the team has been led by the star trio of Riqui Puig, Gabriel Pec and Marco Reus.

Who will play instead of Riqui Puig?

Under the guidance of Greg Vanney, the Galaxy have become one of the tournament’s strongest sides, securing their spot in the MLS Cup Final with an impressive playoff run. They defeated the Colorado Rapids in the first round, overcame Minnesota United in the Western Conference semifinals, and triumphed over the Seattle Sounders in the conference final.

However, the Galaxy have suffered a major setback with the loss of Riqui Puig, the team’s linchpin throughout the season. Puig sustained a torn cruciate ligament in the match against Seattle, ruling him out of the most important game of the year. Vanney will now need to rely on his tactical expertise to compensate for this significant loss.

LA Galaxy possible starting XI

Vanney is expected to stick largely with the lineup that has delivered consistent results throughout the year. The only notable change will likely come in the attack, where Delgado is set to replace the injured Puig.

The game between LA Galaxy - NY Red Bulls will be played on Saturday December 7 at Dignity Health Sports Park with kick off at 4:00 p.m. ET / 1:00 p.m. PT. The MLS Cup Final will be available for all audiences through the Apple MLS pass: watch LA Galaxy vs NY Red Bulls exclusively on MLS Pass.
