Athletic Bilbao captain Iker Muniain has found himself in a love triangle with a fellow LaLiga star, after his ex-wife took to social media to announce her new relationship over Christmas.

Muniain and Andrea Sesma had been married since 2017, having been together for several years before that and have two children together, but decided to call time on their relationship four years later.

Little is known about the circumstances surrounding their separation, with the couple keen to keep details under wraps, though they still follow one another on social media.

Sesma, an influencer, was then reportedly dating Spanish film actor Miguel Angel Silvestre after the pair were spotted in Madrid the following year, but her most recent social media posts confirms she is now with another football star.

And Sesma chose to announce the news with a staged, rom-com style Instagram reel filmed in London, as she celebrated the festive season away from home.

It begins with Sesma walking away from the camera is if filming herself, before the player in question - Getafe midfielder Luis Milla - walks into her and sends her coffee cup tumbling to the floor.

The pair then look at each other for a second, before embracing and sharing a kiss on camera, seemingly confirming their new relationship with their followers.

Milla himself also posted a series of loved-up pics of the couple on Instagram a few days later, captioned: 'From London with love'.

Fans were quick to send their congratulations to the new happy couple, with fellow footballer and friend of the pair Gerard Deulofeu also taking to social media.

'London and love,' the former Watford and Everton forward wrote on Milla's post.

Muniain is a former Spanish international, playing twice for his country after a long youth career for La Roja, although he has also represented the unofficial Basque team on four occasions, scoring twice.

During his time with the Under-21s, he broke the record for appearances with 31 caps, only for Deulofeu to later best his tally.

Born in Pamplona in the Basque Country, the forward has played his entire senior career for Athletic Bilbao having joined in 2005 as a 12-year-old.

With 548 appearances to date, Muniain needs just 66 more to draw level with club legend Jose Angel Iribar as the club's record holder.

As for Milla, the 29-year-old is yet to represent Spain at any level, but has emerged as an important figure for Getafe in recent years.

Since signing from Granada at the start of 2022-23, he has featured 39 times, recording five assists, but is yet to score his first goal for the club.

He now joins Mason Greenwood and Co in eighth place in LaLiga in what has been an impressive early run of form for the Azulones.
