Spanish reports claim Lazio turned down a €95m offer from Real Madrid for Sergej Milinkovic-Savic this week.
According to Don Balon, the proposal arrived 24 hours before the Serie A transfer deadline, meaning the Aquile had no time to find a suitable replacement.
The Spanish clubs are still open for business until August 31, but Lazio won’t let the Serbia international go without the opportunity to get an alternative.
The alleged €95m offer is also well below the asking price, which is believed to be no lower than €120m and up to €150m.
Don Balon also claim that Lazio turned down similar bids from Manchester United and Chelsea over the summer.
It is rumoured in today’s Italian papers that Milinkovic-Savic will sign a new and improved contract at Lazio, which could include a €150m release clause.
