Leeds in advanced talks to sign Dan James from Man United on permanent deal

Leeds United are in advanced talks to sign Daniel James from Manchester United on a permanent deal, according to a report from transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

No room for James

Daniel James was signed by Manchester United in July of 2019 from Swansea City.

The first half of 2019/20 would see James feature fairly heavily for The Red Devils.

However, in recent times, James has struggled for any sort of regular action.

In 2020/21, for example, the Welshman would feature in just 15 Premier League games and completed 90 minutes in less than half of those ties.

Now, this summer sees James facing either more competition for a place at Old Trafford.

Jadon Sancho was of course brought in earlier in the window and is expected to be a regular starter this campaign.

This was then followed by a deal for Cristiano Ronaldo being completed. This would leave James competing with Ronaldo, Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, Mason Greenwood and Anthony Martial for a place in United’s front-three.

So, it was not too surprising to see reports emerge earlier on Monday that claimed United were open to selling or loaning James and Jesse Lingard now Ronaldo has arrived:

Leeds eyeing James move

And now, one club are seemingly taking advantage of this, with Fabrizio Romano reporting that Leeds United are in advanced talks to sign James from Man United.

The deal is said to be for a permanent move, rather than a loan, with discussions ongoing to complete the agreement.

No potential transfer fee is mentioned by Romano.
