MANCHESTER UNITED’S injury curse continues with new boy Leny Yoro set to miss the first three games of the new season with a metatarsal injury.

The £52million signing from Lille injured his foot in the opening game of the club’s US Tour, a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal.

The teenager appeared to suffer a non-contact ankle injury during the first half and limped off with assistance from a physio.

He has now been seen using crutches and wearing a protective boot at the club’s training base at UCLA in Los Angeles.

Rasmus Hojlund also came off in that game with what appeared to be a hamstring injury.

That is thought to be a slight pull that could just keep him out of the tour’s second game against Real Betis rather than be a long term problem.

But the injury to 18-year-old centre-back Yoro is a major blow as Erik ten Hag had been planning to start the season with him alongside Lisandro Martinez at the heart of the team’s defence. Yoro will be back about 3 months later as reported.

Ten Hag admitted he and his team were "especially careful" with Yoro in the build-up to the match as he had only completed a few training sessions.

United had 66 cases of injury or illness affecting players last season.

Meanwhile United continue planning for the future after swiping 16-year-old Chido Obi Martin from Arsenal.

The prolific youth team goalscorer decided to quit the Gunners and is understood to have had talks with the Red Devils new coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.

The Dutch legend looks to have convinced the 16-year-old of the future at Old Trafford and he has gone for it.

The Danish born teenager joined the Arsenal academy at the age of 14.

His current contract had come to an end and Arsenal would not meet his demands over pay for a new one.

Obi Martin scored 29 goals in just 17 league matches for Arsenal's U18s last season.

In February his name came to the fore after scoring 10 times in one game for the Gunners' U16 side against Liverpool.
