After Spurs' 6-1 loss to Newcastle United, Champions League football is slipping away and Daniel Levy faces a big choice
After 22 years at the helm of Tottenham Hotspur Football Club, Daniel Levy is set to appoint his 13th permanent manager.
Tottenham's latest disaster of a 6-1 defeat to top 4 rivals Newcastle at St James' Park has seen the mood in the fanbase descend into an apoplectic rage. Chants for Levy's departure of the club were more than audible from the high altitude away end, despite the noisy joy of around 50,000 Geordies.
Angered further by the seeming refusal to engage former manager Mauricio Pochettino in talks to make a return to the club, Levy is running on empty when it comes to credit with the fanbase.
The Argentine's name had been sung in chorus by supporters in recent weeks, but as it seems a fairytale return isn't on the cards it wasn't to be heard amidst the shock in Newcastle.
At this point, the question could be asked as to whether Levy himself has a future at Spurs, such is the mood and vitriol amongst fans. To have your say, take part in the latest football.london poll below.
It seems an obvious choice for Tottenham at the moment. Continue on Levy's recent path and go for a big name glamour hire such as Luis Enrique, or fully invest in a project manager as other clubs have done.
The names in the poll above are just some of the options available, but whether or not it should be left entirely up to Levy is a different question, such is the importance of who takes the seat in the dugout come the start of next season.
Tottenham have the infrastructure and capability to cement themselves back in the Champions League, and push even further. They just need to get the right pieces in place to achieve it.
Maybe, just maybe, it will be lucky number 13 for the Tottenham chairman.
