Liverpool are closing in on their first summer signing with the club hopeful of sealing a deal for Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister this week, Mail Sport understands.
Contact between both parties is thought to have taken place and with Mac Allister keen to work with Jurgen Klopp, the process is expected to be a smooth one.
The value of the move is not currently known despite the release clause in his contract, although the final fee could reach as much as £60million.
World Cup winner Mac Allister signed fresh terms at the Amex Stadium last October, extending a deal that would otherwise have run down at the end of this season.
Manchester United were thought to have been keen on signing the playmaker but were forced to move on after Mac Allister expressed a desire to move to Anfield.
It is expected that Liverpool will splash more cash this summer even after landing the 24-year-old, with Khephren Thuram, Manu Kone and Romeo Lavia targets.
