Liverpool have seen a busy transfer window thus far but still have more work to do with just a few weeks remaining to strengthen Arne Slot's squad as they bid to retain their title
There are just three weeks of the transfer window remaining and seemingly still more work to do for Liverpool. The Premier League champions have overseen a substantial turnover despite their success and have been busy in the summer market.
Hugo Ekitike and Jeremie Frimpong got on the scoresheet against Crystal Palace at Wembley but the Reds could not claim their first trophy of the season in the Community Shield. The Eagles earned victory via a penalty shootout.
Liverpool's new stars are still bedding in as the likes of Florian Wirtz and Milos Kerkez also find their way into Slot's plans for the new season. That has not stopped talk over a possible move for Newcastle star striker Alexander Isak however.
There are departures still to come too. Darwin Nunez's exit looks set to be confirmed while there remains uncertainty over the likes of Harvey Elliott.
Mirror Football takes a look at the latest transfer news and rumours around Anfield.
Arne Slot drops transfer hint
Kostas Tsimikas was always going to have a difficult time breaking into Arne Slot's plans following the arrival of Milos Kerkez and that was made clear in the Dutchman's selection on Sunday. While Kerkez started the game and Andy Robertson came off the bench, Greek international Tsimikas was not in the squad at all.
Tsimikas has spent five years at Anfield as Robertson's understudy but is now struggling to find a place in the Liverpool side. The 29-year-old's future looks destined to lie elsewhere with Leeds United and Nottingham Forest said to be circling.
Liverpool to reignite talks
The Reds are planning to reignite talks over Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi following the Community Shield. Guehi has just one year remaining on his contract and featured as the Eagles defeated Liverpool at Wembley.
Mail Online report that the Merseyside club are set to enter talks for the defender's signature, with the England international still said to be valued at £45m by Palace. Slot is in need of some reinforcement of his backline with just Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate and Joe Gomez at his disposal in the centre of defence.
Another hijack?
Liverpool are reported to have considered hijacking another Newcastle transfer this summer. Amid the club's interest in Alexander Isak, the Reds moved to sign Mapgies target Hugo Ekitike after being knocked back the first time.
Sky Sports report that there was also some late interest in another Newcastle target, in Yoane Wissa. The Brentford forward has been pushing for a move to the North East.
It seems that interest from Anfield will not lead anywhere however with a move to Newcastle seemingly in motiono.
