Liverpool's Fabio Carvalho leaves rival fans furious as transfer comes to light

Liverpool are set to sanction Fabio Carvalho's departure to Brentford - which has left Fulham fans fuming.

The Portuguese forward has been on the books at Anfield for the past two years, heading out on loan last term to find football, first with RB Leipzig then Hull City, but will now depart permanently and head back to west London. It was his exploits at Fulham which saw the Reds move for him.

Carvalho enjoyed a stellar year for the Cottagers in the Championship, but hasn't been able to replicate that in the top flight. Brentford are ready to bring him in for a total £27.5million - £22million up front.

The Bees will be hoping to get the 21-year-old back to his best, which could leave Fulham looking on with plenty of resentment. They were forced into his sale with his contract winding down and the club's fans are less than impressed with his choice of destination.

One said: "Fabio Carvalho should've stayed at Fulham, we just wasted 3 years of his career". Another tipped him to potentially be a letdown at Brentford: "As a Fulham fan do you think Carvalho will be added to that list ? Not seen him play much but seems a lot of money - could be another flop."

Carvalho spent the second half of last season back in the second tier with Hull, but after a change of manager at Anfield it looked as if the youngster might be able to force his way into Arne Slot's plans, playing regularly in pre-season.

Liverpool had already turned down an offer from Southampton and were understood to be keen on keeping Carvalho on Merseyside after impressing during pre-season.

The Reds though have shown themselves to be shrewd operators in the market, often selling players for notable profits. Carvalho's imminent exit is yet another example with Liverpool poised to make a potential £20m profit, before they have to give Fulham a cut as per the sell-on fee they agreed back in 2022.

So far this summer Slot is yet to sanction any major arrivals or departures. Carvalho is set to be the biggest name to come in or out of Liverpool ahead of the season, unless a deal for Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad is sealed before next week.
