James Milner might now be 37-years-old but he is showing no signs of slowing down, as he topped the Premier League this season for the biggest distance covered per game.

Opta have revealed the five players who cover the most distance on average in the Premier League - and perhaps surprisingly, three players making the list over the age of 30.

Milner, who leaves Liverpool this summer after eight seasons at Anfield, was regularly top of the club's bleep and lactate tests during pre-season training every year.

So despite now in the final years of his career, he is still one of the fittest players in the Premier League as shown by the 11.2km he averages per 90 minutes.

The top five shows Liverpool are set to lose two workhorses this summer, with Roberto Firmino also making the top five at 11km.

Firmino and Milner both played their final games for the club during their thrilling 4-4 draw with Southampton at the weekend.

The Brazilian has been linked with a move to LaLiga with Real Madrid among clubs interested.

Mail Sport reported yesterday that Firmino is waiting to see what Los Blancos' plans with him are, before he agrees on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Milner meanwhile has been strongly linked with a move to Brighton, one if which completed, would add a ton of experience to a talented young midfield.

The youngest player to make the list was Leeds' attacking midfielder Brenden Aaronson who joined Milner at 11.2km-per-90 minutes.

Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen and Bournemouth's Ryan Christie rounded off the top-five with 11km.

Opta stats said that to make their list, players had to play a minimum of 900 minutes in the Premier League season.
