Lloris sets all-time Tottenham benchmark in club’s meeting with Wolves

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris this afternoon etched his name indelibly into the history books of the club.

Alli on target

Nuno Espirito Santo’s men are of course currently locked in Premier League action.

In the club’s 2nd domestic outing of the campaign, Spurs made the trip to Molineux, aiming to build on a surprise opening day downing of Manchester City.

And, as things stand in the West Midlands, this is precisely what the visitors are headed towards.

Nuno’s first outing back at his former stomping ground sees Tottenham leading Wolves by a goal to nil late in the first-half.

Dele Alli, looking altogether rejuvenated on the back of the change on the bench in the capital this summer, proved the man on target, dusting himself down to slot home a self-made spot-kick inside ten minutes.

Lloris the record-breaker

As outlined above, though, whilst it is Alli who, at present, is primed to prove match-winner at Molineux, it is in fact another of Spurs’ stars whose contribution today is set to go down in the club’s history books.

The player in question? Hugo Lloris.

As revealed ahead of kick-off, in taking to the pitch this afternoon, shot-stopper Lloris has become the player with the most Premier League appearances in Lilywhites history.

The French international has broken his tie with club legend Darren Anderton, to take his tally to a round 300.
