Despite only being in charge at Old Trafford for two years, former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal was no stranger to waving goodbye to members of his squad.
The Dutchman — who was sacked just days after guiding the club to FA Cup glory in May 2016 — inherited a squad from David Moyes that was in desperate need of being transformed. It meant that new signings were required, but so were several departures.
Van Gaal wasted no time in making his mark, overseeing countless exits in his first summer in charge. It was a trend that continued the following year, too, with Angel Di Maria and Robin van Perise among those saying their goodbyes in the summer of 2015.
With that in mind, MEN Sport has taken a close look at each of the 28 big-name exits Van Gaal sanctioned during his reign and what they are up to now.
