David Beckham has claimed Luis Enrique was "virtually sleeping at the training ground" during his first season at Paris Saint-Germain.

Luis Enrique guided PSG to a second successive Champions League final as the Ligue 1 giants claimed a 6-5 aggregate victory over Bayern Munich by drawing 1-1 at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.

PSG are aiming to become the first team since Real Madrid, who won the tournament for three straight years between 2016 and 2019, to win back-to-back Champions League crowns.

Luis Enrique took over at PSG in 2023, and while the club has moved away from the "Galactico" model, with Lionel Messi, Neymar and Kylian Mbappe all leaving, the former Barcelona and Spain boss has built a dominant squad packed full of young talent.

And Beckham, who spent time at PSG late in his playing career, shared some insight into Luis Enrique's commitment.

Speaking on CBS' Beckham and Friends Live, he said: "That's how Luis Enrique has built them for the last few years and he has built this team that are so together.

"I spoke to the president Nasser [Al-Khelaifi] at PSG and he said for the first year of Luis Enrique going, he virtually slept every night at the new training facility, working on how he wants the team to look, how he wants the team to play, who he wants, where are we going to go, what the future looks like.

"The president, Nasser, just said he has never seen anything like it.

"His work ethic and what he wants from his team, he wants them all on a level par, all to want the same thing, bringing these young players through.

"But he also wants players that are just going to run and not stop and that is what he has got, that is what he has built."

PSG, who also look set to defend their Ligue 1 title, will take on Premier League leaders Arsenal in Budapest on May 30.
