Real Madrid are close to clinching the summer signing of Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt.

AS understands that Madrid are in advanced talks over a move for the striker. Eintracht this week activated a six-million-euro purchase option on the 21-year-old - who has been on loan in Germany from Benfica - with the intention of selling him on at a profit.

Eintracht set to sell Jovic for 50 to 60 million

Madrid scouts have watched Jovic both in the Bundesliga and the Europa League, with the Serbia international proving a particular revelation in Europe's second-tier competition, scoring eight goals to sit just one behind this season's top scorer, Chelsea's Olivier Giroud.

As a mobile centre-forward with a killer instinct in front of goal (he has netted 25 times so far this season) Jovic fits the profile that Madrid had been looking for. Reports in Germany suggest Eintracht will sell for around 50 to 60 million euros, 20% of which will go to Benfica.

No Real Madrid return for De Tomás

Jovic's arrival as competition for first-choice striker Karim Benzema would all but rule out the possibility of Raúl de Tomás joining Madrid's first-team fold next term. The club youth product, 24, is due to return from a year-long loan at Rayo Vallecano at the end of the season, but is reluctant to be limited to the kind of bit-part role endured by the soon-to-be-sold Mariano Díaz.
