Luka Modric played the 597th and final game of his immense career with Real Madrid on Wednesday night in the Club World Cup semi-final.
Luka Modric played the last of his 597 matches with Real Madrid, on Wednesday against PSG, in the semi-finals of the Club World Cup (0-4). The 39-year-old Croatian midfielder came on in the 65th minute in place of Jude Bellingham, when the score had already been sealed for many minutes, and could do nothing to prevent his team's elimination.
After 13 years at Real Madrid, 28 trophies (a record) including six Champions Leagues (2014, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2022 and 2024) and a Ballon d'Or in 2018, he would certainly have preferred a different outcome, but after Thomas Müller, beaten in the quarter-finals for his last match with Bayern Munich (0-2 on Saturday), PSG dashed the last dreams of another great player. Despite his advanced age, Modric is expected to continue his career.
