Gareth Southgate has named his first squad since England reached the World Cup semi-finals as they prepare for their inaugural UEFA Nations League clash with Spain.

The England manager has resisted the urge to call up any youngsters but has brought in Luke Shaw in place of Ashley Young - who started five of England's six World Cup games.

Southgate has also recalled Liverpool's Adam Lallana while Burnley's James Tarkowski and Southampton's Alex McCarthy are also called up.

Jamie Vardy and Gary Cahill announced their decisions to take a step back from international football on Tuesday, but will make themselves available in an emergency.

England will play Spain in their first ever UEFA Nations League match on September 8 at Wembley.

The Three Lions will also face Switzerland in a friendly three days later at Leicester City's King Power Stadium.

Midfielders: Dier, Delph, Henderson, Lallana, Lingard, Alli, Loftus-Cheek
