Defender of the national team of North Macedonia Stefan Ristovski commented on the defeat of the national team in the final play-off match of the 2022 World Cup qualifier with Portugal (0:2).

“I want to congratulate Portugal on their victory. Today was an open game, they dominated, but we leave with our heads held high. We did our best, tried to level the score, but the second missed goal put an end to our hopes. I think we shocked the football world, but now we need to move on and believe that we can participate in such big matches. Of course, we will be rooting for Portugal at the World Cup. I feel almost Portuguese. My son was born here, I have a Portuguese passport. I want them to win the World Cup,” Ristovski was quoted as saying by UEFA’s official website.
In the episode with the first goal, Stefan Ristovski grossly made a mistake in the transverse pass in his own half. This was taken advantage of by Fernandes, who intercepted the ball, then bounced back with Cristiano Ronaldo, and in the end, Bruno delivered an aimed shot into the corner of the goal.
