Maddison belts out Jason Mraz's I'm Yours for his initiation song at Tottenham

New Tottenham midfielder James Maddison has performed Jason Mraz's I'm Yours for his initiation during the club's pre-season tour.

The 26-year-old joined Spurs for £45 million last month after failing to keep Leicester in the Premier League, and already appears to be a hit with his new teammates.

He performed the 2008 classic standing on a chair in front of his teammates at a hotel, and gave a surprisingly soulful rendition, even if not all the notes were quite there.

The other Spurs players clapped along, while some even joined in with the words as Maddison clicked his fingers to the beat in the absence of any backing music.

Fans on Twitter were less forgiving, with one commenting 'good job he's a decent footballer' while another hoped 'his performances on the pitch will be better.'

He is not the only Premier League footballer to undergo an initiation in recent weeks after Mateo Kovacic sung Steve Holy's Good Morning Beautiful to Erling Haaland after joining him at Manchester CIty.

Aside from his singing performances, Maddison has already made his ambition on the pitch clear since moving to North London.

'I'm here to win,' he said as he fielded questions for the first time as a Spurs player, on the eve of a preseason friendly against former club Leicester.

'I know a lot of people talk a lot about how long it's been since Tottenham won a trophy, I wouldn't be here if I didn't believe we could win.

'I know from the manager and the quality of the other players in the squad that we have what it takes to win. That mentality, wanting to win, trying to win, that's what I've seen so far so I'm definitely here to win.'

While Maddison will bring creativity to Ange Postecoglou's side, the new manager will be concerned about the uncertainty over Harry Kane's future.

As reported by Mail Sport, Spurs owner Joe Lewis has told chairman Daniel Levy that Kane must be sold in the current window if he refuses to sign a new contract.

As it stands, there are no indications that the striker is open to pledging his future to his boyhood side and that has opened the door for a potential £100million move.

Indeed, Levy is set to come under pressure to allow Kane to quit before the deadline should he refuse to pen a deal understood to be worth up to £400,000 a week.

Bayern Munich remain determined to sign the England striker this summer.
