Maguire voted as AF EPL most disappointing player of the season

  /  JeremyL7

Harry Maguire is the most disappointing player in 2021/22 EPL, with votes cast from AFers all around the world.

Man Utd captain received the most votes with nearly 20,000, accouting for 51.2%. He has beaten other candidates including Lukaku (Chelsea), Grealish (Man City), Saul (Chelsea), Emerson (Tottenham) and his teammates Sancho & Wan-Bissaka.

Man Utd had a poor performance this season, although Cristiano Ronaldo returned to the club and Ralf Rangnick replaced Solskjær to be the manager. The Red Devils ranked only 6th in EPL, without qualification for the Champions League. Harry Maguire was the one to be blamed most.

Ahead of the 2021/22 season campaign, Maguire was deservedly ranking amongst the world’s best centre-halves on the back of a stellar run of form for United and making the Euro 2020 Team of the Tournament.

So, to think that the world’s most expensive defender is now being panned week in, week out for a series of dreadful displays leading to claims that he should either be stripped of the captaincy or sold is regretfully ‘disappointing’ to a tee.

Hopefully he will not be awarded this prize again next season...
