Match Report

Real Madrid fell by a Nacho own goal at Real Mallorca in a tetchy game on Sunday, giving Barcelona the chance to go eight points clear later on against Sevilla.

The reigning La Liga champions are currently five points behind Barcelona and that gap can be extended later on.

Madrid were dreadful and missed their only real chance - a Marco Asensio penalty, saved by Rajkovic down to his left.

Mallorca flew into tackles and committed several fouls in a stop-start game, not allowing Madrid to get a rhythm together.

Nacho nodded into his own net as he tried to stop Vedat Muriqi doing the same, with Andriy Lunin having no chance against the looping ball.

The Ukrainian stopper started in goal because Thibaut Courtois hurt his thigh in the warm up. Bad timing for Madrid ahead of the Club World Cup and with various other injury issues.

"It was difficult because of the kick-off time, the opponent, it all gets complicated when they go in front," said Nacho.

"They were lucky with the goal, and we also missed a penalty."
