Manchester City's 115 charges for breaching UEFA's Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules have not been dropped despite speculation.

Rumours have spread online recently that an investigation into last season's treble winners will no longer go ahead.

Speculation surrounding the charges potentially being dropped appear to stem from recent comments on the situation made by Premier League CEO Richard Masters.

Speaking at a press conference for the European Leagues group last week, Masters said the hearing would be set to take place in the 'near future'.

'We can't comment on the case, the date is set,' Masters added. 'The case will resolve itself at some point in the near future.'

However, according to Mail Sport's Mike Keegan, the case against Pep Guardiola's side remains active.

'There’s a rumour flying around that Manchester City’s charges have been dropped. Told it’s not true.' Keegan wrote on X.

The club were initially served legal papers by the Premier League in February of 2023 announcing charges over alleged breaches that could ultimately lead to expulsion from the top fight.

A statement from the league claimed the allegations pertain to a period between 2009 and 2018 and that the matter would be referred to an independent commission.

The 115 figure includes 54 charges relating to a alleged failure to provide accurate and up-to-date financial information between said seasons and 14 relating to failures to provide accurate financial reports for player and manager compensation.

Both Everton and Nottingham Forest have been hit with points deductions this season for failing to comply with FFP guidelines, with the latter sitting just one point above the relegation zone.
