Manchester United's £72million new boy Rasmus Hojlund is yet to be given a squad number.
The club could have cashed in by making a call ahead of Saturday’s friendly triumph over Lens at Old Trafford, before which the striker was introduced to the crowd.
However, United are working on a number of deals and want to wait until they have a clearer picture of their squad before committing to shirt numbers.
Hojlund had received a huge round of applause from the Old Trafford crowd when he walked out onto the pitch ahead of kick-off.
The Danish international put pen to paper on a five-year contract, after completing his big-money move from Atalanta.
Hojlund quickly emerged as United boss Erik ten Hag's main target after the club were priced out of moves for Tottenham's Harry Kane and Napoli star Victor Osimhen.
Ten Hag had been desperate to land a striker to end United's struggle for goals and is hoping he will be able to get the most out of the young forward.
It is expected Hojlund will have to catch up on fitness after joining United's pre-season late having not played a single minute in either of Atalanta's two warm-up clashes.
He sat on the bench for Atalanta's most recent friendly encounter with Bournemouth and wasn't risked in case he picked up an injury that could derail the deal.
The boyhood Man United fan watched the 3-1 victory over Lens on Saturday.
'It is no secret that I have been a fan of this great club since I was a small boy, and I dreamed of walking out at Old Trafford as a Manchester United player,' Hojlund told Man United's club website.
'I am incredibly excited by this opportunity to turn that dream into a reality, and I am determined to repay the faith that the club has shown in me. It is still early in my career, but I know that I am ready to make this step up and play with this group of world-class players.
Erik ten Hag's side concluded their pre-season preparations on Sunday with a 1-1 draw against Athletic Bilbao in Dublin.
Man United will open their Premier League campaign on August 14 against Wolves.
