Marc Cucurella is expected to leave Chelsea before the summer transfer window closes after reaching an agreement on personal terms with Manchester United
Manchester United have been given a huge incentive to complete the signing of Chelsea defender Marc Cucurella as quickly as possible. The Spaniard's ability to play at left-back and centre-back could prove to be a massive help for Erik ten Hag's side that have been struck by key injury concerns.
Tyrell Malacia is currently sidelined with an injury that has seen him miss the opening three Premier League fixtures of the season. Luke Shaw is set to miss a significant amount of time as he recovers from a muscular injury - leaving Ten Hag short of options at left-back.
According to The Athletic, United have submitted a loan proposal to sign Cucurella from Chelsea. An agreement in principle on personal terms is already said to be in place with talks ongoing between the two parties to agree on a fee.
The Blues would prefer a permanent sale for Cucurella but could receive a significant loan fee for the Spaniard as he edges closer to a switch to Old Trafford. The 25-year-old is currently third choice left-back under Mauricio Pochettino with Ben Chilwell and Ian Maatsen ahead of him in the pecking order.
Romelu Lukaku is also set to leave Stamford Bridge as he looks to reunite with Jose Mourinho at Roma. The former Chelsea boss brought Lukaku to United during his spell at Old Trafford.
