Manchester United will begin negotiations this week to bring Bruno Fernandes to Old Trafford.

According to A Bola, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is ready to move on to his next target this transfer window and an approach will be made to Sporting in the coming days.

Fernandes, who lifted the Nations League trophy with Portugal last month, has a €100m release clause in his contract with the Portuguese side.

It is thought United will submit an opening offer around the €55m mark.

The report goes on to explain that Fernandes has been made a top target and his signature isn't dependent on the future of Paul Pogba.

The Portuguese paper insists that United's interest has increased due to the fact that their bid to land Harry Maguire from Leicester has been successful.

The 26-year-old has confirmed his desire to leave the King Power Stadium, however, Manchester City are also interested in the England international.

It is understood Leicester will hold out for a fee of at least £85m - a world record for a defender
