Former Manchester United forward Louis Saha has told his old club to consider two players as replacements for Casemiro this summer
Manchester United have been told which midfielders they should pursue to replace Casemiro this summer. The Brazilian's deal at Old Trafford is due to run out at the end of the season, with the announcement made last month.
United are currently being linked with various prospective midfielders who could fill Casemiro's position when the summer transfer window opens. The Red Devils have previously been expected to enter the market for midfield additions, and that probability is anticipated to increase with Casemiro leaving the club this summer.
Numerous candidates have been linked with a move to United in recent months, including Brighton's Carlos Baleba, Nottingham Forest's Elliot Anderson and Crystal Palace's Adam Wharton. Recent weeks have seen speculation surrounding Sandro Tonali's situation at Newcastle, with the Italy international linked with Arsenal on deadline day, reports the Manchester Evening News.
Former United striker Louis Saha has outlined why he considers Tonali, alongside his Newcastle colleague Bruno Guimaraes, would represent worthwhile acquisitions for the squad at Old Trafford. In an interview with AceOdds, the former forward said: “I’ve always been a big fan and defender of Casemiro.
“He was asked to do one too many roles in the last two years, but that’s been cut and now he’s settled and his role is defined. He’s proved he’s a world-class player and I understand why the fans want him to stay.”

“United need aggressiveness and someone that will dictate the midfield. I see someone more like [Sandro] Tonali or [Bruno] Guimaraes, who are two monsters in midfield.
“With players like [Kobbie] Mainoo, you need someone alongside him who has the experience and vision to manage the transition when Casemiro goes. You need that experience, directness and divisiveness. It’ll be hard to replace.”
“If you bring in a young player, it's a disruption. It’s great for the future, but you need experience. If Casemiro goes, I think a combination of [Adam] Wharton and Guimaraes would be great because Guimaraes is more of a captain.”

Tonali had been linked with a potential transfer to Arsenal on deadline day earlier this month. Claims surfaced suggesting Tonali's representative had 'offered' the midfielder to the Gunners, something that his agent, Giuseppe Riso, subsequently denied.
Riso then offered a hint regarding Tonali's prospects a few days later, suggesting that a resolution could be reached in the coming months. He told Tuttosport: “Newcastle are having a hard time letting go of Sandro, and he wants to lead the club to the Champions League.
"These transfer discussions will take place later. We’ll see how the season ends and then we’ll decide what to do.
“There’s no preference at the moment. It’s still early. What we’re saying today won’t apply tomorrow. Newcastle couldn’t let him go now, and there’s no point in moving, especially since Sandro is very attached to the club. We’ll evaluate and decide what to do in the summer.”
