Manchester United have delved back into their history books after partnering with adidas to release a throwback collection revisiting iconic kits from 1988-90.
To celebrate the memorable look from the era that kickstarted Sir Alex Ferguson's unparalleled tenure of domination at Old Trafford, the clothing giants have produced a near-identical reproduction of the blue third strip used for several seasons.
The 'Man Utd x Originals' line is designed to invoke a feeling of matchday nostalgia and capture the spirit of away days embarked upon in the old First Division.
In a nod to the design template of this time, the collection, numbering nine individual items, provides a modern-day take on one of the club's most cherished outfits. A hoodie, t-shirts and a bench jacket have also been unveiled.
Standing as the centre piece of the collection is the third jersey. The latest version, available from today, includes an engineered 'MUFC' jacquard material and an eye-catching ribbed collar complete with red and black detailing along its edges.
Staying faithful to the much-loved original, the adidas logo, club crest and larger sponsor iconography associated with the late 80s have all again been raised, with a soft textured material applied onto the woven fabric to create the effect.
Matching shorts adorned with 'MUFC' script down one side round off the attire.
The collection also includes a bench jacket inspired by the smart ensemble typically worn by Sir Alex Ferguson on the touchline. However, it has been recreated as a modern winter jacket, again lending a present day touch to the nostalgia.
A reinterpreted version of the off-pitch hoodie worn by the players is available, too.
Adidas have insisted that each part of the collection is a homage to the original pieces, and United supporters may well be salivating over the prospect of casting their minds back to over three decades ago and recalling their club's remarkable run.
Indeed, the period signalled the start of their ascent to the summit of the top-flight and culminated in an FA Cup triumph that likely rescued Ferguson from the sack.
Ferguson, of course, then went on to win 38 trophies in 26 glorious years at the club before stepping back in 2013 and being replaced by the ill-fated David Moyes.
This season, United are edging closer to securing a top four finish after beating Wolves 2-0, courtesy of efforts from Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho.
Youngster Garnacho was introduced off the bench in the 82nd minute with United holding on to a one-goal lead and promptly netted his fifth strike of the campaign.
Speaking after the match, boss Erik ten Hag described the forward as a 'huge talent' and aired his hope that he will take confidence into the club's crucial run-in.
'Garna scored a great goal and he almost everything good - that will give him belief,' Ten Hag said. 'That's good for us for the rest of the season.
'He is back and he can have an impact, and that will give him confidence.
'One of the aspects of the biggest talents is, first, they take responsibility and, second, they are mature. They have the skills and the belief that they can dominate opponents and once again he did it.
'He has a big impact in many games, either when starting or coming on. He is ready and straight into the game and that is so important for the squad that you can bring in young players.
'Hopefully he will progress so quickly and he can compete for a starting position. That is his challenge.'
