Man Utd fans believe Fred deserved more against Liverpool

Despite a spirited second half performance, Manchester United couldn't stop Liverpool from taking another huge step towards the Premier League title on Sunday.

United were fortunate to only be a goal down at the break as Liverpool saw two goals disallowed, and Jurgen Klopp's men were dominant after half time with Mo Salah missing from six yards before David de Gea tipped Jordan Henderson's drive onto the post.

But United gradually fought their way back into the contest, and would have snatched an equaliser but for better finishing by Fred and Anthony Martial from inside the area. As United pushed men forward as injury time approached, Mo Salah scored Liverpool's second on the break.

Leading United's rally was Brazilian Fred, who kept his side pushing on from the base of midfield. Fans felt Fred stepped up in the absence of Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay, and did not deserve to be on the losing side.

Fred has shown marked improvement throughout this season, establishing himself as a first choice in midfield. His Anfield showing did not go unnoticed by supporters, who took to Twitter after the game to show their appreciation for his performance.
