Manchester United are reportedly being given the chance to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres as the La Liga giants explore keeping Marcus Rashford beyond his loan spell
Manchester United are reportedly being handed the opportunity to sign Barcelona forward Ferran Torres amid ongoing uncertainty surrounding Marcus Rashford's future. United sent Rashford to the La Liga club on loan last summer, with an option included to make the deal permanent at the end of the season.
Rashford made clear his wish to depart Old Trafford last summer, which prompted United to reach an agreement that saw the England international head to Barcelona on a loan deal , with the La Liga side holding an option to make the move permanent.
With only a matter of months remaining before Rashford's loan deal concludes, it appears United could have the chance to bring in one of Barcelona's own players this summer.
According to TEAMtalk, Torres could emerge as a target for United this summer following the La Liga outfit's latest stance on transfers.
The report suggests Barcelona are once again attempting to manage their finances ahead of another summer window, potentially offloading certain players to fund fresh signings.
Consequently, it has been claimed that Torres has been "offered" to United as Barcelona seek to bring Rashford back to the Camp Nou for a further season.
Barcelona hold the option to purchase Rashford for €30million (£26million), yet numerous reports have indicated that the Spanish club have looked into the possibility of keeping the United star on loan for a further year.
As a result, it is claimed that Barcelona have put forward the prospect of United signing Torres, 26, which could persuade the Red Devils to be more flexible in allowing Rashford to depart on another loan deal, should the opportunity arise.

Torres already knows what it's like to play in Manchester, having spent two years at the Etihad Stadium with Manchester City prior to his return to Spain in 2022, reports the Manchester Evening News.
United are reportedly "intrigued" by Barcelona's proposal regarding Torres, though it remains to be seen what conclusion both the player and the club would reach were such a deal to materialise.

Torres has put together an outstanding campaign at Barcelona this season, netting 16 goals across all competitions, contributing to the club reaching the Champions League quarter-finals while holding a four-point advantage over Real Madrid at the summit of the La Liga table.
Rashford has previously made no secret of his desire to remain at Barcelona beyond his current loan arrangement.
"[I want to stay for] as many [seasons] as possible. We will see,” Rashford told TNT Sports back in October.
"I have to focus on trying to do my job and trying to help the team in whichever way I can."
He added: "I'm learning a lot, it's a new style of football. But it's making me a better player. Honestly, it's an amazing experience. I've always been a huge admirer of Barcelona, every player my age has watched them play, it's amazing football."
