ERIK TEN HAG has already been given a new nickname by Manchester United staff - just a few weeks after becoming manager.

The 52-year-old was appointed as the new United boss in April, but he started work last month.

Upon his arrival he insisted on meeting all non-playing staff members on a personal level to build a rapport and conduct an internal review.

He also took the time to meet and take selfies with fans outside Old Trafford.

As a result, according to GOAL, he has been nicknamed the "New Sheriff".

Officials are said to be very pleased with what Ten Hag has offered so far, and some have even suggested that he has "sent a surge of electricity through the club".

The new boss is aiming to completely revamp Man Utd's current squad following their disastrous season.

Paul Pogba, Nemanja Matic, Jesse Lingard and Juan Mata have already confirmed that they will be leaving Old Trafford when their contracts expire at the end of this month.

And Edinson Cavani looks set to follow.

Ten Hag has already compiled a list of potential transfer targets for the upcoming window.

He is eager to reunite with former Ajax star Frenkie de Jong, but Barcelona have set an asking price of around £65million.

Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has emerged as an alternative target if De Jong remains at Camp Nou.

The Red Devils are also considering a shock swoop for Christian Eriksen, who will become a free agent this summer.

Eriksen signed a short-term deal with Brentford in January, but his impressive return to the Premier League has sparked interest from the likes of Tottenham, Everton and now United.
