Manchester United will be eager to do more business after striking an agreement with Brentford to sign Bryan Mbeumo but Ruben Amorim and Co may need outgoings first

Manchester United are closing in on the signing of Bryan Mbeumo after weeks of talks with Brentford, but the Red Devils are not expected to stop there in the transfer market.

Pending a medical and final details, Mbeumo will join Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon through the door at Old Trafford as United's third summer signing. The 25-year-old attacker will join for a financial package which could reach £71million if all add-ons are met, with United paying a base fee of £65m across four instalments.

Outgoings will now be needed if United are to pursue further signings with funds at a premium this summer.

Marcus Rashford is closing in on an initial loan move to Barcelona, while Jadon Sancho and Juventus are said to be in advanced talks over a transfer.

Here, Mirror Football rounds up all the latest transfer news from in and around Old Trafford...

United's secret Jackson talks

Manchester United have spoken with the agent of Nicolas Jackson over a potential swoop for the Chelsea striker, who could leave Stamford Bridge with the Blues strengthening in attack this summer.

United are expected to pursue a No 9 before the transfer window shuts on 1 September and it has previously been reported that Jackson, 24, is not viewed as an 'untouchable' by Chelsea, who have snapped up Liam Delap and Joao Pedro ahead of the new season.

BBC Sport have now revealed that United have held talks with Jackson's representative, Ali Barat, over a move. Outgoings would be required for a deal to come to fruition, though.

Amorim hints at priority

Ruben Amorim singled out Manchester United's lack of pace in midfield following Saturday's 0-0 draw with Leeds.

The Red Devils are expected to move on to other targets - provided they can offload some of their unwanted stars - after reaching an agreement for the transfer of Bryan Mbeumo and Amorim's comments could indicate that he would like to add in the midfield area.

He said: "It was a pre-season game. The gaps between our sectors was sometimes too big. We have a lack of pace, especially in the middle of the park and you can feel it is hard to win and bring the ball. But we created chances."

Shock Gyokeres twist

Portuguese outlet SIC Noticias claims that Manchester United are close to an agreement with Sporting Lisbon for Viktor Gyokeres.

The 27-year-old striker knows Ruben Amorim well from his time in Lisbon but seems destined to join Arsenal following negotiations between the Gunners and Sporting.

But with both sides struggling to lock down a final agreement, it's now been claimed United could yet hijack Arsenal's move for Gyokeres.
