Cole Palmer's future at Chelsea has been addressed by Liam Rosenior while a new striker has been tipped with a move to Old Trafford before the January transfer window closes

Manchester United's transfer rumour mill is gathering pace as the January transfer window enters its final stretch. Michael Carrick's men are yet to sign anyone this window and any chance of them adding to their squad remains unlikely.
However, a number of midfielders have been linked with a move to Old Trafford. The United hierarchy are only expected to add to Carrick's team at the right price or if one of their long-term targets are hijacked by a rival.
This week, Cole Palmer has emerged as a surprise summer candidate. The England international was a United supporter growing up and it's been claimed that he is growing unsettled in London.
There has also been links to a new striker amid uncertainy around Joshua Zirkee's future. With all of that being said, Mirror Football has rounded up the latest United news and rumours.
Chelsea's Palmer stance
Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has claimed Cole Palmer is happy at the club in response to links to United this week. Palmer was a United supporter growing up and is good friends with Kobbie Mainoo.
Reports this week have claimed that the playmaker is unsettled in the capital and could return to Manchester. However, Rosenior has insisted he remains part of Chelsea's plans for the future. "I've had numerous conversations with Cole and he seems very happy to be here," he said.

"He's a huge part in our long-term plans. My job and the club's job is to get him into a situation where he can consistently perform to the level he wants to. There was frustration in the Brentford game. We need to look after him and that's why I didn't involve him in the last game."
Striker 'waiting' for United move
Crystal Palace striker Jean-Philippe Mateta is reportedly 'hoping' that United come in for him this January amid his ambition to leave the Selhurst Park outfit. Mateta was linked with United last summer after his goalscoring form in London.
The France international has informed Palace of his desire to leave this move, with his preference said to be a Champions League club. His contract expires in 2027 and he will reportedly cost £35m.
According to reports, Mateta is hoping that United come in for him in January to sign him. However, there isn't no concrete interest from Carrick's side at this stage.
