Portuguese youngster Gedson Fernandes has been strongly linked with a move to Manchester United in January, and reports from his homeland suggest that his representatives have headed to England for transfer talks.
The 20-year-old Fernandes, who has two senior caps for Portugal, is said to be available this month as he struggles to hold down a place at Benfica, who are thought to be keen to cash in on the midfielder while interest in him remains high.
Benfica would also reportedly accept a loan deal with a view to a permanent switch in the summer, but United would have to move swiftly to tie up a deal in the face of mounting competition.
Lyon and AC Milan have also been linked with a move for Fernandes, who has featured eight times this season, but Record say his agents have been in England this week.
He made more of an impact in the 2018/19 campaign, playing 34 games and scoring one goal.
