Man Utd must decide on new deals for Bruno Fernandes, Luke Shaw, Lisandro Martinez

The 2026/2027 season will be the first full season with Carrick at the helm of Manchester United. The Manchester Evening News points out that the contracts of Bruno Fernandes, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, and Bayindir are all entering their final year, and the club needs to address their situations.

This season, Bruno Fernandes broke the Premier League assist record, and Manchester United's top management has clearly expressed their desire for him to stay beyond this summer.

Manchester United has the option to extend Fernandes' contract by 12 months, so there are currently no plans to offer the captain a new deal, but this situation could change in the 2026/2027 season.

Last year, Bruno Fernandes rejected an offer from Saudi club Al Hilal, choosing to stay at Manchester United. However, in December last year, he stated that Manchester United wanted him to join Al Hilal, a remark that attracted widespread attention. Nevertheless, the Portuguese international had said in a meeting with local Manchester reporters in October that the club had conveyed Amorim's desire for him to stay.

Manchester United has the option to extend Martinez's contract by one year. The defender missed the first three months of this season due to a knee injury.

From February to March this year, Martinez was sidelined again due to a calf injury, and shortly after returning from injury, he was suspended for three games for the controversial act of pulling Calvert-Lewin's hair.

Bayindir plans to leave Old Trafford this summer in search of regular playing time. The goalkeeper's contract expires in 2027, and the team has an option to renew, but he intends to leave before the transfer window closes.

Manchester United does not have a one-year extension option in Shaw's contract, meaning that if they do not renew his contract, the club will lose the player for free next summer.

Shaw is Manchester United's longest-serving player in the dressing room. The left-back joined from Southampton in the summer of 2014, Van Gaal's first season at Manchester United, for a transfer fee of £27 million.

Shaw, now 30, has made 325 appearances for Manchester United. This season, he was the only Manchester United player to start all Premier League matches and did not suffer any injuries throughout the season.

Maguire's and Heaton's contracts are also entering their final year, but both recently signed new one-year deals. Maguire's new contract includes a 12-month extension option.
