Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez heavily linked with move in Argentina

Manchester City forward Julian Alvarez has been linked with a move away from the Etihad this summer, with Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain the two sides most closely linked with the World Cup-winner. There appears to be fresh news developing on that front.

Alvarez had said that he would consider his future after he had finished international duty at the Olympics with Argentina. PSG are also reportedly ramping up their interest in the former River Plate forward.

Yet the word coming out of Argentina is that Alvarez is close to a move to Atletico. Los Colchoneros are keen to wrap up the signing of a star forward, seeing him as a long-term replacement for Antoine Griezmann. ESPN say that Alvarez has agreed personal terms with Atletico, and prefers their offer to the inevitably more lucrative one from PSG, due to the fact he would be working Diego Simeone.

It would be an added bonus that Nahuel Molina, Rodrigo de Paul and Angel Correa also play for Los Colchoneros. Until now, the issue that has always been cited has been the cost of the deal. Some sources put City’s demands at a minimum of €70m and more towards €90m. If he was to go to Atletico, either a loan or a heavy reduction to those demands seem much more likely.
