Manchester United outcast Mason Greenwood still on shortlist for La Liga giant

Manchester United loanee Mason Greenwood has little clarity over where he will be playing football next season, but he is not likely to be short of suitors. The Red Devils appear to be keen to sell him this summer, and it could well come down to an auction for his services.

Getafe retain a 20% sell-on fee from their loan deal, and while they would like to hang onto him, their resources may struggle to reach United’s demands for the 22-year-old. Barcelona have been linked with Greenwood in the past, but have since distanced themselves from the Englishman. Rivals Atletico Madrid on the other hand remain one of the teams that are keeping a close eye on his situation this summer though, and could move for him, as per Matteo Moretto. The Italian transfer insider assures that there is likely to be intense competition for his services this summer though.

Greenwood became persona non grata at United after charges of attempted rape, actual bodily harm and coercion were levelled at him, which have since been dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in the UK after a key witness pulled out of the case. With Atletico Madrid open to offers for Alvaro Morata, Angel Correa, and Memphis Depay this summer, it is likely they will move for one or multiple forwards this summer.
