Manchester United are preparing a £60million bid to take Willian from Chelsea this summer.

United boss Jose Mourinho is seeking a reunion with the Brazil winger, 29, who he first brought to England from Shakhtar Donetsk five years ago.

Willian played in Brazil's draw with Switzerland on Sunday evening but has been used more sparingly at Chelsea, starting just 20 times in the Premier League last season.

He has admitted to finding life on the bench difficult despite crowned Chelsea's Players' Player of the Year last month.

Mourinho's interest in Willian has been long-standing and United made enquiries about him in January when Chelsea were reluctant to sell.

The Portuguese hopes his former player can liven up United's attack, which was the lowest scoring in the Premier League's top four last season.

Willian has two years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bridge.

When asked about compatriot Fred's move to Old Trafford earlier this month, Willian described United as 'one of the best teams in the world'.

'Of course (Fred can make an impact), no doubt about that. He has a lot of qualities,' Willian said during a press conference before flying to Russia.

'He can improve (them) a lot. He goes to one of the best teams in the world. I am happy for him. I hope he does well at Manchester United.

'He is very happy to come to the Premier League to play. We talked a little bit about that.'
