Manchester United target Lisandro Martinez is ready to force his way out of Ajax to seal a move to Old Trafford.

With the Dutch champions making it clear United will need to increase their current offer, the player is willing to take matters into his own hands in an effort link up with former manager Erik ten Hag.

According to The Mirror, Ajax players believe Martinez is 'willing to go to war' with the club to get his move, with the 24-year-old losing patience with the Amsterdam-based side.

He could reportedly be willing to refuse to train in order to help push the move through, with it looking ever more likely he won't play for Ajax again.

Ajax had hoped to trigger a bidding war between United and Arsenal, who are also interested in Martinez, but the defender has made it clear he wants to reconcile with ten Hag - with who he enjoyed plenty of success in Holland - in Manchester, and is pushing for a deal to be agreed in the next 48 hours.

It is believed ten Hag is urging United officials to agree a deal soon, believing Martinez to be a key cog in his revolution along with Frenkie de Jong.

ten Hag is keen for both players to join United on their pre-season tour of Asia and Australis as soon as possible, but it will certainly be after they face Liverpool in Thailand on Tuesday.

Since making his debut in 2019, Martinez has made 105 appearances for Ajax. He is also a full Argentine international.

Despite being just 5'9 in height, he would likely immediately become United's first choice at centre back after their defensive struggles last season.

Tyrell Malacia is United's only signing so far this summer, but a deal for Christian Eriksen is close.

The Red Devils have also been offered the chance to sign free agent Thomas Strakosha.
